Potter Profile ⑤ Goshoen Kiln

I'm Semba, the representative of Atom!

This time, I'd like to introduce you to "Goshouen-gama" 🥰

Goshouen-gama is a long-established pottery studio founded around 1930, an astonishing 96 years ago, by the first generation, Joun Sakai! 😳✨

The name was changed from Sakai Seitojo to Goshouen-gama and passed down to the second generation, Yoshito Sakai. 👏

Currently, the third generation, Yoshifumi Ninomiya, his wife Rumiko, and the fourth generation, their son Ryota Ninomiya, are creating unique works that bring out the tradition and individuality of Goshouen-gama. ☺️✨

I personally like the painting style of Goshouen-gama, and the first item I collected was this soba choko (buckwheat noodle cup) 🤍

Hand-painted circles, deep blue and brown 🟤🔵
But only a part of it has a rough texture like iron glaze! 😳✨🤍
This painting style has a surprisingly large number of devoted fans! 🥹🤍

My aunt also loves Tobe-yaki, and she has many pieces from Goshouen-gama in particular. 😍
I might try going to the next Tobe-yaki Festival with my aunt! 😳✨

And the Shinogi mugs, which are also featured on Atom's website, come in round and vertically elongated shapes. 💙

This glaze atmosphere is irresistible for Goshouen-gama fans! 😭😭👏
The grooves where it's carved have shades, highlighting a sophisticated deep blue. ☺️
While still retaining the rough texture unique to Goshouen-gama... ✨

The round and vertically elongated shapes are different, but they are quite cute when held as a pair. 🤍

My mother-in-law uses this mug, and she says that the aroma of coffee smells even better in this mug, and the mouthfeel is also very good. 😳☕️💓

And, as I showed you in the first image, my favorite zodiac animals 🐇🐉🐍🐴🤍🤍🤍
I've been collecting them since I opened my business, so this is my fourth one already! 🥰

They're small enough to fit in my hand, so they don't take up much space, and I look forward to collecting them every year! 😆

I tried taking a picture with Uri, Atom's signboard cat! 📸🐈⬛🖤
The rabbit and snake have tails! 🤣🤣

What is this? 🐈⬛

Sniff sniff sniff 🐈⬛

It looked like he was saying, "I guess I'll accompany Mom's photo shoot today." 🤣🤣

The four of them are lined up in the auspicious spot in my house, boosting our luck! 🤍
I'm looking forward to adding a sheep to our family next year! 🐏🤍

That concludes my introduction to Goshouen-gama! ✨

I'll post on the blog again when I visit the pottery studio, so stay tuned! 🥰🤍
