Pottery Introduction ⑧ Sukoshiya

I'm Semba, representative of Atom! This time, I'd like to introduce "Sukoshiya," a shop that has been loved by Tobeyaki fans for many years 🌸

Mr. Ayumu Matsuda, the owner of Sukoshiya, started by learning to use a potter's wheel at the Ryokko Kiln, a Tobeyaki pottery studio, after graduating from high school. He then graduated from a Arita ware school in Saga Prefecture, joined an Arita ware pottery studio, and was in charge of overglaze painting 🖌️

After that, he opened the Matsuda Kiln 27 years ago in 1999 ✨ He established Sukoshiya after getting married to his wife 👏

Sukoshiya's concept is:

"Careful craftsmanship" "Living with Tobeyaki"
We hope that the dishes, made with the potter's heart, will be loved in daily life.

They create pottery every day with the user in mind ☺️

This beauty when arranged on the table 🥹✨✨✨ These are truly plates you'd want to use every day, making it fun to serve food 😳

They have a workshop in Tobe Town, with an attached gallery shop in the same location 🌱 The shop is filled with dishes brimming with Sukoshiya's passion, and just stepping inside makes you feel comfortable ☀️

I've visited their workshop and gallery before, and I remember feeling the warm atmosphere even though the staff were seriously painting ☺️

Speaking of Sukoshiya, it's all about this matte texture 🖌️ Instead of glossy glaze, they use a matte glaze to create Sukoshiya's unique expression 😳

And, of course, the representative painting is this adorable komon (small pattern) 🌸 The petals are dabbed with a cotton swab, and the center part is painted with a brush 🖌️

Since each one is painted individually, it takes time and effort, but the result is a unique dish 🔥

There are also various variations in red, blue, and brown 🥰 You can instantly recognize a Sukoshiya piece by this painting, can't you? 😳👏

They also have many other painted designs, which I'll briefly introduce 🖌️

As shown above, This is Tokusa 🌱 It comes in a rich variety of colors 🤍

This is a fish 🐟
I personally really like this fish painting, and I think it's a key point that if you look closely, there are some smiling fish 😳🤍

This is Dogo Ume 🍡
It's full of designs representing Dogo, which is synonymous with Ehime! 😍
The hand-painted style is very cute, and Ehime lovers will adore it 🥹🍊 It's a plate you can gaze at forever ☺️

There are also many other types, such as polka dots, flowers, and ink touch paintings, which makes collecting them fun 😚

By the way, I also recommend these chopstick rests, and I'm collecting them 🤣🤍 Since they don't take up much space, I just can't help but collect a lot of cute ones 😂✨

Also, my current favorite plate is this one 💙 It's a limited-edition item from the Sukoshiya brand book, a logo plate that was included in the book 🤎

The size is perfectly exquisite; it's just right for placing a cake, or even a rice ball and pickles 🍰🍙

Our看板猫 Uuri also seemed to want to use it 🐈🐾💓

Sukoshiya's dishes are truly all lovable, so please come and find your favorites at their gallery shop or the Tobeyaki Festival 🌸

And with that, my introduction to Sukoshiya concludes! 👏👏👏
