Pottery Introduction ② Kasho Kiln

Hello, this is Senba from Atom Representative!

This time, I'd like to introduce "Washogama" ✨

Washogama was founded by his father, Shunichi Yamamoto. His son, Kazuya Yamamoto, started helping at the age of 20, and since then, he has won numerous awards 🏆.

Now, Kazuya is in charge of the Etude pattern, which is the face of Washogama 😳

The photo below is a Tobeyaki torch stand that was actually used in the movie "Mirai e no Katachi" (Shape of the Future), released nationwide in 2021 🔥.

Washogama also participated in its creation and painting, and Washogama's works appear frequently in the movie 😆!

This is the actual torch stand 🔥

It is actually still placed in Tobe Town, Ehime Prefecture, as a symbol of the town ✨.

Many kilns cooperated in its production, making it an object with a soul 👏.

If you ever come to Ehime, please do visit Tobe Town 🙇.

Each Etude pattern from Washogama is unique, freely drawn with Kazuya's sensibilities 🖌️.

He mentioned that he struggles quite a bit with the balance and movement of the lines before drawing, but once the image comes to mind, the brush expresses it freely 😳.

This dynamism and delicacy!

If you look closely, you can see differences in shading, and customers often ask, "Is this hand-drawn?!" because it's drawn so delicately and carefully 😍.

And even on three-dimensional plates, the Etude pattern is drawn smoothly, making it captivating no matter how many times you look at it 😳✨.

It's no exaggeration to say that Kazuya is the number one craftsman when it comes to delicacy and meticulousness, creating exquisite works 👏.

This elephant is also very adorable, and the painting is both detailed and beautifully done 🖌️.

There are many other animals, so I'll feature them in a separate blog post 🐘🐈⬛🦮🤍.

And finally, this is "BAKEL - BARKEL," a collaborative work created by Washogama's Kazuya and Ryusengama's Masato Ikeda 😭✨🤍.

Isn't it too beautiful? 😭😭😭

This fusion of Kazuya and Masato.

This particular piece is something I use personally, and with Barkel, sake tastes many, many times better 🍶🤍🤍.

I could talk endlessly about Barkel, so I'll feature Masato-san from Ryusengama in a separate blog post 😳✨.

That concludes my introduction to Washogama 🙇.

There are many other wonderful works, so I'll introduce them as we go along ✨!

Please look forward to the next blog post too 💓.
