Pottery studio introduction ③ Toubou Yuu

Hello, I'm Senba, the representative of Atom!

This time, I'd like to introduce "Tobo Yu"☺️✨

Tobo Yu was founded by Keiji Matsuda in 2003, and now he and his wife work together on pottery✨

The name Tobo Yu was given by Mr. Matsuda's grandmother,

It is a workshop that continues to create works with the theme of "creating works with a playful spirit even within tradition"✨

"By incorporating Tobe ware into daily life, we hope to enrich lives."
They create their pottery with such a wish in mind😳

The rust-blue and yellow-brown-green series are used quite frequently in my home😆

This is a photo from a dinner party with friends🤳🍽️🤍

With cute plates, even homemade meals look great❤️🔥

The rust-blue flower-rimmed square bowl is my favorite plate in the series😆💓

It's perfect for serving acai bowls, so I find it very useful😍🫐

By the way, the surface of the rust-blue and yellow-brown-green pieces might look like cracks, but this is a technique called 'kannyu,' deliberately applied to create texture☺️

The glaze sits on top of the 'kannyu' sections, so they won't crack from there👍

Normally, when removing items from the kiln, the temperature is gradually lowered, but to create 'kannyu', the door is opened immediately to rapidly cool the temperature😳!

This sudden temperature change creates the 'kannyu', and at that moment, a "caran-caran" sound can be heard♪

There's a video of this on Yu-san's Instagram, and I was so moved when I heard that sound👏!!

Sometimes I hear the sound when washing dishes at home, and it always makes me happy☺️

And here's my dish cupboard🤣❤️🔥

There are so many plates from Yu-san, and I feel happy every time I open it🥴✨

It's full of Tobe ware, so I'll introduce it again in another blog☺️

Recently, Atom has been carrying the rust-blue and yellow-brown-green shown in the photos above, but we originally stocked plates with this hanaichimatsu floral pattern☺️🌸 (the plates in the photo below)

These plates are truly excellent!!!😍💓

Personally, I think they are the most versatile plates👍

They're curry plates, but because they're deep, you can put pasta, side dishes, fruits, and more! 🍛🍝🍇🍓

You can put almost anything on them🤣

There was nothing nearby to show the size, so I put a rice paddle there🤣 I wanted to put something more stylish, but maybe this is just like me, which is fine haha

Although it's not on the website yet, this is the #1 plate I want to bring back as a revival in the future🔥❤️ I'll let you know when it happens!!

That concludes the introduction to the Tobo Yu kiln👏👏👏

There's also a cafe next to Yu-san's shop, so I'll visit it when I go back to Ehime💓

I'd like to introduce it on the blog again☕️💓
